Andrew Neil is a publisher, editor, writer, broadcaster, public speaker and business consultant on media matters working out of London, New York, Dubai and France.
He is Chairman of Press Holdings Media Group, owners of The Spectator, Spectator Australia and Apollo. He is Chairman of ITP Magazine Group, a major magazine publisher in the Gulf (based in Dubai) and of World Media Rights (London) which owns and exploits TV rights and formats across the globe.
Andrew presents The Daily Politics on BBC2 every week, Sunday Politics on BBC1, the award-winning This Week on BBC1 every Thursday evening, and Straight Talk with Andrew Neil on BBC News 24.
Between 1997 and 2005, Andrew was Publisher of The Scotsman Group of newspapers, which was acquired in 1996 for £85m and sold to Johnston Press in January 2006 in a deal worth £200m.
During his career Andrew Neil has been White House correspondent then UK Editor of The Economist, Editor of The Sunday Times, Executive Chairman of Sky Television and Executive Editor of Fox Television News of America.
Born in Scotland in 1949, he attended Paisley Grammar School and the University of Glasgow, where he graduated in 1971 with an MA (Hons) in Political Economy and Political Science. He also studied American history.
In October 1996 Macmillan published his autobiography Full Disclosure, on his Sunday Times and Sky TV years.
Andrew is a Fellow of the Royal Society for Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (FRSA). In the autumn of 1999 he was elected Lord Rector of the University of St Andrews, one of the oldest and most distinguished universities in the world. On stepping down from that post in the autumn of 2002 he was made a Doctor of Laws by the university.
