Born in London, Diana obtained a double honours degree in French and Italian then applied her skills as a multi-lingual tour director working throughout Europe.
She later worked in London for a global investment firm handling mergers and acquisitions for high-tech and skincare firms.
She was then tempted back into travel by a bespoke travel company organising tailor-made holidays in France and Italy. A unique opportunity led to a role working for a British aristocrat and running a stately home in Suffolk. Diana later joined the sales team of a speaker-booking agency in London, and the rest is history...

In her spare time she volunteers at the North Hampshire Repair Café where she repairs textiles and soft toys. A keen amateur gardener, Diana successfully completed the new RHS Practical Courses. Her current project is to enhance and transform her own garden, and she works on gardens for a small number of private clients. Unsurprisingly, she books the guest speakers for the 'growing' Gardening Club in her village. Diana recently adopted an elderly, abandoned, tabby cat: the new feline joins their two British Shorthair cats. Diana enjoys cooking, travel (especially India, Italy and South Wales), gardening, more gardening, and writing.

Maxine DunnageDiana is supported by her office team led by Maxine Dunnage who joined DBA in 2011. Maxine is a mine of information on films and music … unsurprising, when you know that her Dad was the drummer for Ronnie Wood’s brother.

Frequently Asked Questions

Booking a speaker should be a pleasure, not a chore. Start by calling us. We listen and save you time and stress by asking the right questions before offering recommendations. The internet can be useful for ideas. But it’s no substitute for our personal connections, experience and detailed knowledge.

Not necessarily and remember that some famous people are poor communicators. Think first about your audience and the event. What is the event for? Who’s attending, and why? What will the speaker add? Do you want them to inspire and motivate? To entertain? Share experience? Lead a workshop? What will “success” look and feel like, after your event?

Fees depend on many factors including the venue location, what you want the speaker to do and how long they will be with you. A bespoke speech may cost a little more than an off-the-shelf alternative, but the result will be better.

It’s helpful to know your budget, if you have one in mind so we don’t waste time.
Typically, an excellent speaker from us will cost from £2,000 + expenses + VAT, in the UK. You are required to pay the speaker’s travel and hotel expenses which could a car and driver, first class train fares, flights or simply mileage. To make your life simple and keep costs down, we often arrange fees which include all expenses. The fee quoted to you includes the arrangement between the speaker and DBA.
You won’t get an extra bill from DBA for our services and expertise, painstakingly and carefully acquired over more than 30 years.

Terms and Conditions (T&CS) are sent with the confirmation of your booking and available on request. For clarity and transparency, we send the same T&Cs to the client and to the speaker so that all parties are working with the same information.

Cancellation charges are shown on your T&Cs and we can provide details before you book. In some cases, it may be possible to postpone an event: when a venue burned down, we worked very closely with both client and speaker, simply to transfer the booking to the new location and date with no additional cost, or fuss.

We can, and do, accept bookings at very short notice, but most are 3-9 months ahead. Some clients want to secure their speaker a year ahead for annual events, especially in peak months. We suggest you don’t leave it until the last minute. But if you do, don’t panic. Pick up the phone.

Yes – and we would recommend this. We’ll arrange for you to brief the speaker by phone or online. Full briefing notes from you beforehand are really helpful.
If you want to meet the speaker in person for a briefing meeting, and if they agree, there will be an additional cost for their extra time.

Most speakers are happy to attend the dinner, meet your guests and dine with you. Comedians usually decline.
If your speaker is a surprise guest, we keep them out of sight until the perfect moment.
It’s always best to clarify this with us at the start.

It depends. If your event is confidential, or Chatham House Rules apply, it is not appropriate to do so. People can speak more openly if they’re not being filmed.
You may have to pay additional costs to film or record the speaker, depending on how and where you wish to use that material, but prior written permission is required in all cases. There are legal, copyright and IP implications.

Again, it depends. Some speakers are happy for you to mention them on your social channels. Some will promote your event on their social channels. Others choose to avoid social media, or it not appropriate to use socials.
If social media is important to you, check before you book. Legal, copyright and IP implications apply, with their additional costs. Prior written permission is always required.

DBA Speakers invests considerable time and resources in our pro-bono work for the charities we choose to support.
All our speakers support their own charities, often for very personal reasons.
We no longer provide signed memorabilia, auction prizes or raffle prizes, including for schools and charities.
We cannot accept “freebie” enquiries or bookings for “expenses only”.
